Prior to 1947 Pakistan was a part of India.
In 1947, it became an independent Dominion of the Commonwealth and formed the Royal Pakistan Air Force, adopting the current green and white roundel.
In 1950, Pakistan declared itself a Republic and renamed the air force as the Pakistan Fiza'Ya (Pakistan Air Force).
